I think technology is designed to rob us of our creativity, our vitality & our agency. Sorry to be such a cynic but it is my deep belief. I do not trust what is being offered up- ai etc. These are the ‘master’s tools’ we do not win by using them.

I think you raise valid concerns! I have many reservations about AI. I found that Nick’s perspective offers a view of emerging tech as one tool in the toolkit rather than a replacement for craft and vision. I wouldn’t say that it sways my preference not to include AI tech in my own personal creative work, but at the same time I really appreciate a vision for AI usage that centres a conversation around artistic vision.

I also think that technology can be a boon to artists - look what the typewriter and the film camera enabled us to make. I love seeing artists take new tech and make new things and I hope creative people always feel inspired coopt innovations for arts, but! Tech can’t be divorced from the capitalist landscape it is created in - so on that note I agree we have to be wary of how technological advances threaten and separate us from our inherent creativity.
