Hi little coven. I recently had the opportunity to interview Anya Bergman, a seasoned tarot reader and prolific author whose latest novel, The Tarot Reader of Versailles, tells the real-life story of Marie Antoinette’s personal tarot reader, Marie Ann Lenormand.
Not only does The Tarot Reader of Versailles shine a light on the forgotten history of one of tarot’s greatest heroines, it also includes practical tarot applications — including spreads that guide the action of the novel and instructions on how to read the tarot alongside the characters on the page.
You can listen to our conversation for free on the latest audio episode of The Shuffle, above.
The Tarot Reader of Versailles is available from all major bookshops in the UK now, and international readers can order it from Blackwells, which ships worldwide.

What did this interview bring up for you? I’d love to know:
Were you familiar with Marie Anne Lenormand’s story?
Is there a figure from tarot history that you’d love to read a novel about?
