Card of the Month
The Two of Cups has been a bit of a stalker card for me and my clients over the last month, so I was not surprised, but totally delighted to draw it as the card for April.
This card, often associated with soul mates and loving relationships, is about more than meets the eye. The romance is there, for sure, but there are stronger foundations at play.
The two figures in the Rider Waite Smith version of the card model more than just the romance opf a marriage ceremony - their steady, engaged gaze and shared support of the cups in their hands illustrates mutual respect, care, and equity in relationships.
The caduceus symbol that presides over the scene, often mistaken for a sign for medicine, is in truth an icon of meaningful, effective exchange. It’s rooted in iconography related to Hermes, the Greek god of communications, exchange, commerce.
This month, then, you’re invited to deepen the respect and meaningfulness of your relationships through thoughtful, intentional, loving communication. Spend quality time listening and sharing with the people you love - but equally with the things you love, like your creative projects, your home, and your hobbies.
A Two Of Cups-inspired Tarot Spread for April
To use this spread, shuffle your deck then split it in Two. Draw card positions 1 + 4 from the first pile, and positions 2+3 from the second pile.
What aspect of my life is this card drawing my attention to?
What, within that aspect of my life, would benefit from an increased level of mutual respect and communication?
What does mutual respect and communication look like in this circumstance?
How can I practice, and invite, the kind of mutual respect and communication I desire?
